Hold on to these moments as they pass

December is always a time of excitement for me. I have my birthday and my favorite holiday all rolled into the same month. I never used to get really excited over my birthday but it seems more and more that I really feel it REALLY is something to celebrate and not just wait for those certain numbers 30, 40.... Every year should be a celebration. I can't believe I haven't written here for almost month. It seems like so much has happened unfortunately I haven't taken notes to remember. M lost her first tooth the day before Thanksgiving and that was a wonderful thing. FINALLY, I think she thought. We don't know if she ate the tooth or if it fell out while she was sleeping so we didn't have a tooth to leave for the tooth fairy, but M wrote a nice note for her. She told me that she thought the tooth fairy was going to bring her a wad of money tied up with a rubberband. I had to tell her most likely it would be less than that. She was so excited the next morning to find a 1 dollar bill under her pillow. We had a very nice Thanksgiving. It was probably that first time I felt real relaxed. I had the house cleaned mostly by Tuesday night so Wednesday I got to relax. My lovely little 20 month old threw my phone in the sink which caused a minor malfunction for a few days, but luckily it dried out. I didn't know that would work but it did. My first turkey experience went well. Thankfully I could call my grandma for a few quick questions. We enjoyed my grandma, dad, and mother-in-law with much laughter, food, wine, and fun. Friday the girls and I put up the Christmas tree, hung the garland and put on the decorations. We also baked, baked, baked and baked some more. Normally I am all excited about it, but it was hard this year to get in the mood with no snow on the ground. M confessed a secret that she had kissed her best friend Ryan on the cheek in the hallway at school when she was in kindergarten. I found myself thinking "And, when were you going to tell me this???" It made me giggle. L had a hard time with letting all the Christmas cookies cool. I found us having a showdown at the table. I was sitting at one end and she was sitting opposite me right in front of the cookies. She kept trying to touch one and I kept telling her no. After the fourth time she stopped and looked at me, quick grabbed a cookie, took a bite, and just as quickly set it back down. It took all I had not to burst out into laughter as I took her to the couch for a time out. Those are the hardest moments. So now L is taking a nap while daddy and M are off to a monster truck show. I find myself wondering what I will tonight after L goes to bed? Read? Watch a movie? OOooh I just don't know. :) To be continued....

Is It Really Sunday Already?

So here it is Sunday night already. I don't know where the last five days went, but they went. Wednesday my husband and I picked up a few Christmas gifts and the made it to see "Flyboys". It was very good. Thursday we spent most of the day at the clinic. I took my mom and as it turns out my husband had an appt too. We thought it was going to be Wednesday so it worked out that we were all there at the same time. Friday we were in the cities for my great uncle'hs funeral. It was wonderful funeral. It was so focused on the happiness that was in his life and no sorrow for him being gone. They actually had music playing in the background while the pastor was giving the euology. Like there favorite song played in the background when he spoke about how my great uncle and his wife met. There is no doubt he is in a better place now. Dancing with his lovely Helen. Saturday I was trying to catch up on all the cleaning and things I had been avoiding. I went to a krubb supper at my former church with my grandma. That was a lot of fun. I've only had it once, but for some reason about a month ago I was really craving it. I was glad to with her. Today again has been "catch up". M today came over to me and asked me to look behind her bottom teeth and tell her what was there. I took a look and sure enough there was a tooth behind the baby tooth sticking out. Another was on it's way to the surface so tomorrow we will be calling the dentist. :(

So that sums it all up. It was a nice break.

X marks the spot

You may ask yourself why they late hour of writing. I am not going to go into too much detail except to say M is sick and I think I cleaned up the worst mess that can come along with that. I have had it all happen. Dirty diapers when she was sick, watching her throw up, cleaning up throw up, being thrown up on, but tonight was that worst. I will just stop there. Sometimes motherhood is not so magical. :) So I am currently doing laundry and thought I would write a little.

It's been a good two days of work. I can't complain working for the school system. I get to enjoy days of with M and L. M said last week that she wants to be just like me when she grows up and that she wants to do what I do and work at my school with me. Then the next night I believe she told me she wanted to be a doctor, a zookeeper, and a teacher. So she's definently keeping her options open which is good. L is using please a lot more. I bought M a book called Please, Puppy, Please. The first time I read it I thought this will be great since it is pretty repetitive and thought it would be better for L. So now when I ask L to say please she will say "Please puppy." We have a little to work on I guess. But at least she's saying please. She also learned the word "spot". M told me she was saying that word, but it didn't click until I saw M get off of the couch and I hear L as she was scurrying over to wear M had been sitting all the while saying "spot. spot." Once she got to M's spot she looks around to see if she can see M and says "Spot!". I think M has told her enough times to stay out of her spot. So she is picking up on quite a lot. I have to remind M not to get to wild because everything that she does L feels she can do too, but just doesn't realize she's not big enough yet. We also started with the word "again". She brought me over "Red Hat, Green Hat" and as soon as I finished reading it she handed it back to me and said "again". I believe we read it about 8 times. So, a new favorite I would say.

Tonight my dad came over and I had Frank Sinatra on so we were all dancing having a good time and my dad danced with the girls to "The Way You Look Tonight" which was so special. I wish I would have had it on tape. I wish I knew how to dance better because we occasionally have been watching Dancing With The Stars and so M always wants me to flip her around and stuff when we dance. Something to put on a list to do later I suppose.

Yesterday morning my dad called me and told me that my grandma's last sibling passed away. He was 91 and was pretty much blind and deaf, but still living on his own. My grandma is so strong and said it's hard when it comes, but she thought it was for the best. I just can't imagine being the only one left in the family. Parents and siblings. Even if you are 88 I am sure you miss those days long ago. Good grief has this not been the most random blog ever? I apologize for an spelling errors or anything that doesn't make sense. I can use the excuse that I am just tired. Off for a few days so I'll hopefully have something to write about.

A few more things

So I remembered a few more things. Actually I lie. I found my list of things I had wanted to write. I can't remember what I had for breakfast let alone what's been going on the last couple of weeks. I went to go pick up M from her dance class last week and when I walked in the door she saw me and was trying to tell me something, but her dance teacher was trying to talk to the kids so I was kind of trying to give her the Shhh sign. Then finally I hear her say "Mom Grace is in my dance class!" I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but Grace is homeschooled so it was quite exciting for M to have her in the class. I think for Gracie too, to have M in the class. L now has been puckering her lips like a fish now when she wants to give a kiss. It is the cutest thing. Her favorite book for the longest time has been one fish two fish. We usually only make it through the third page and then she closes the book and says. Ba bye. She does that everytime she closes a book. Her new favorite is The Many Faces Of Ernie. After the first night we read it the next day she brought it to me and said "Nernie?" :) We celebrated a couple of birthdays. Princess Lily turned 3 and Prince William turned 5. Nice parties for both. Since their birthdays are so close together we had one on a Saturday and one the following Saturday. Lily got a swing set from her grandma and grandpa. My brother who has no mechanical ability whatsoever....which he owns up to was left to putting it together himself so my husband offered to help if he wanted so we drove up to the cities and spent the day. Lily is so cute. Everytime a plane would fly over she would say it was going to the airplane port. What a doll. Baby Luke who is 6 months old is 24 pounds already. L is 26. He's a big boy. So beautiful though. I see his daddy, but I also see me. He is definently our side of the family. Where Lily looks just like her mom. It's funny though to look at him and think that this was where we were last year. They do change so fast. Okay now that is it for now...who knows when I shall return, but hopefully soon. For you LOST fans WOOHOO! Tomorrow night!

Has it been so long?

Well it feels like it's been forever since I've written. I seem to want to wait until the most peaceful time of the day to write, but have not found that yet so I have decided to just write now. M is at the table having some madarin oranges and L is down at my side wanting to type on the computer. I have had several cute stories I've been trying to keep in my mind for when I would get a chance to write. Like M getting the hiccups and saying "Hey Mom, I got the pickups" or this weekend when I was taking pictures of M and L and I said to L "Say cheese" and she said "Logna" for bologna. Bologna and cheese sandwiches are a big thing at our house. M read her first real book to me the other night. One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. In the past she has been frustrated to read and I have had a hard time getting her excited about it, but when she read the first few pages I told her that was good and she could stop, but she said "Mom, I want to keep going". Last night I thought I would try again and I said do you think you can read me Green Eggs and Ham? and she said "You bet your bottom I will!". They have been working on addition problems which she is doing well with and now they have been dealing with subtraction which suprisingly is doing good at. I was always horrible at it. So I am very proud of her. She made it through this whole month without any color changes for behavior issues so this weekend we are going to the pumpkin patch that is nearby where we live. The deal is if she goes all year without a color change we will spend the night in a hotel and go to chuck e cheese. Or we will take a trip to Kansas City, spend the night and dine at the new T-Rex/dinosaur theme restaurant opening up that is owned by the same person who owns the rainforst cafe at the mall of america. It looks really amazing. That gives us a good reason to visit cousin Isaac too. L is getting into so much. The other day I ran upstiars quick to wake up my husband and I heard L whining which he sometimes does when she wants help with something. So I went downstairs and she was sitting on top of her highchair. I have no idea how she got on top of it without it tipping over. Angels were watching her....yet again. With M we used spankings which were effective, but for L I've been trying timeouts which seems to be working fairly well too. M is busy with dance and we got a thing about girl scouts. I think we are going to wait until next year to have her do that, but we are thinking about putting her in Tae Kwon Do classes. We shall see. So things are going good. I am eagerly awaiting MEA and Halloween. Of course Thanksgiving and Christmas too...along with my birthday. Fall usually isn't my favorite time of the year, but this year I am pretty excited about it. Well that is all for now. Time to get back to the cleaning and homework.
