I Never Said I Was A Role Model

So what a week of things to come. Mayme has become really interested in my life preMayme. What kind of things I did and such. I think it started when I was writing a letter to a friend and she was looking over my shoulder and there were some things from the past that I wanted to write about and tried to tell May that she probably shouldn't read what I was writing. When she asked why I told her because there were just something she didn't need to know about until she's older. She then says "But I want to know ALL your secrets". YIKES!

Then last night Leslie was up here and I walked out of the room and when I cam back in Leslie said Mayme was pretending she was smoking a cigar. I was like "what?!" and she said something to the effect about me pretending to smoke with pretzels or something. Which I am sure I did when I was kid. She then just looked at me and said "Some role model." DOUBLE YIKES! I'm getting lectured by my own child....talk about guilt. Some people (Leslie) found it hillarious. Oh the days before kids....you never think that one day your kids will start asking questions.

Onto another quick subject, this weekend I got to bring home a laptop from work so I could enter census information for work. It's so nice to have a computer that actually loads pages, doesn't freeze up and I can sign up on facebook. I really like it, but now on Monday I will have to return fun laptop and go back to the antinque.

What A Week

Well it has been one busy week. Last week I had something going on everyday, Mayme had two more teeth removed, Lydia had her preschool screening, and George had his 9 month check up. Mayme did real well this time with her teeth. When we finished with her appointment we went and visited my Grandma in the hospital. She tripped on a sidewalk, fell and broke her nose. I was almost thrown back by seeing my sweet grandma all swollen and black and blue. Mayme did real well. She doesn't like to see anyone hurt, but she was a trooper and did real well. It helped that grandma shared a chocolate shake with her. : ) I think when she heard and saw my grandma moving around like normal she got over what she looked like. She stayed in the hospital a few days and then was in the nursing home and I think going home today. She was ready to get out of there before she even went in.

Work has slowed down at Paul's work place. There have been some layoffs so we just keep hoping he keeps his job. He's a really hard worker, but there are a lot of hard workers out there who are losing jobs simply because. He worked one night last week and then they had everyone take the week off so he at least had the PTO for it and we got to spend time together. We will see how this week goes.

Lydia did real well with her preschool screening. She needed 71 to pass and she had 83. During her speech portion they showed a picture of a girl walking up the stairs and a boy walking down the stairs. When the volunteer asked Lydia what was happening in the picture she replied that the Girl was on the stairs. But what is she doing on the stairs? Lydia said "She's walking up to meet her boyfriend." (YIKES!) Of course when asked what the boy was doing? He was going to meet his girlfriend. It was fun to run across people who know Mayme from school. One of the perks if you have a decent kid and they have a unique name. Oh Mayme, I know her! (or ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, Mayme if they are not so decent). Lydia will have Ms Diana who was Mayme's preschool teacher and we are so excited about that. They just chatted up a storm together and I know she will have a fun time.

George is doing good. The best part was that he didn't even get shots this time. He's almost 19 pounds and I forgot how tall. I am so excited for summer to play outside with all the kids and go swimming!!

Thursday night was my first time playing Bunco. A girl and my work place thought it would be fun to get a group from work and play once a month. We will be known at the Belles of Bunco. (The Elementary are the Babes of Bunco). It was a lot of fun and nice to get out of the workplace and spend time together.

I got to see 2 really good movies this weekend. Gran Torino and Slumdog Millionaire. Both just excellent.

Tomorrow it's back to the grindstone.

WARNING: Not for children almost 4 and under

So yesterday afternoon we decided to get our groceries. We got all that we needed and went to check out. As the total came up, I opened my billfold, went to grab my debit card only to find it gone. Not just my debit card, but my savings account card, my gas card, my zoo card, my movie card, my library card, my health and dental insurance cards and several other cards. Imagine my surprise! Thank goodness Paul was along or I wouldn't have had any way to pay for the groceries. As Paul paid I started questioning the girls to which I came to find out that Lydia had been playing with them at home earlier in the day. Luckily the pocket my license was in was too tight so she wasn't able to get it out. So we spent three hours when we got home looking for the cards. Some how Lydia forgot where she put them. She would say she was playing with them, tried to put them back in, and when she couldn't, she got scared I would be upset and that's where she offered several scenarios as to what happened:

1) Toonces ate them
2) she put them in the garbage
3) she put them in the heater and they blew away
4) she took them outside and put them on the trees and the birds ate them
5) they flew away in the sky
6) mayme took them
7) they are at grace and ada's house
8) she buried them in the snow
9) she put them in her pillow
10)she put them in a plastic bag

We looked everywhere we could think of and where maybe a 3 year old would put them. Yes the garbage, piece by piece too. We even got out the flashlights and went out looking in the snow. So it's a mystery and I am sure it's going to be in the goofiest place. For now I am claiming them lost and getting new cards.
