The cabin 2010

We had a fabulous time last week up at my sister-in-laws, uncle's, cabin. The kids and I rode up with my mom and step dad on Tuesday and both brothers and families arrived the same day. It was 88 and humid by the time we arrived so the kids and myself were ready for the water. I got into my suit, but wasn't sure what George would think so I walked him over to the steps and the dock, neither of which he wanted to take him to the water. So I went back up and changed again thinking he wouldn't want to get into the water. My sister-in-law managed to convince him so in he went and he enjoyed it so I then got my suit back on and his as well where we got to play. The weather was really great for June. My one brother, Wednesday morning, decided to wait out a fast onset of rain in the lake. We were all waiting for him to get struck by lightning which thankfully did not happen. George did well maintaining his naps and sleeping at night although by the last morning he figured out how to crawl out of the pack n' play. When I heard the loud thump I saw him just sitting on the floor and he looked at me and said "Sorry, mama". So it was a good week with playing games and visiting with one another. I am very blessed as well to have a niece and nephew who loved playing with George and looked after him without me even having to ask. He enjoyed the attention. Lydia caught two fish which she was really excited about. It was different this year for May. She has always been so close with her oldest boy cousin, but this year she spent most of it with her oldest girl cousin. She wants to get together with her and get dressed up and go to a movie or shopping. That does not sound like my tom boy girl, but maybe somethings are changing. It was a fun time, but we were happy to be back at home in our own beds and to have George in his crib which he hasn't figured out how to crawl out of....yet.

2 Fast

So tonight I had an experience with an all too fast two year old that I don't want to go through again! George was on the couch watching "Curious George" and I was in the kitchen starting to make some taco dip when I realized I had put too much ground up red pepper in so I went to the sink to try to scrape some of it out and when I turned around there was George grabbing the red pepper off the counter and as I went to grab it he dumped it all over his face. He immediately started screaming as he got a huge amount in his right eye. I scooped him up and put him in the sink and started pouring water into his eye trying to get out what I could which only made him scream an fight me more so I tried just getting a washcloth wet to cover his eye and he still was screaming. He couldn't even open his eye and I was freaking out wondering if trying to rinse it out was enough or if he was going to go blind. I started thinking what if he has an allergic reaction and I destroy his vision forever. I got him into the tub and continued to fight him to try and get his eye flushed out. Even though it was a matter of 5-10 minutes after it began he had exhausted himself out and couldn't keep his eyes open. Even as I tried to talk to him and help him he would still say "Thank you mama". We curled up in the bed because I figured at that point him just keeping his eye closed would help the most. He would periodically wake up a bits of pepper would come out of his eye. Finally after a nap his eye was red, but he at least could have it open. I was about ready to douse my eyes with the pepper I felt so bad. By bedtime he was happy and his eye was back to normal.

Make sure you all keep your spices away from the edge of the counter when little ones are around.

The difference between 5 years

So what's the difference between the 10 year old and 5 year old. When I have my morning sickness the ten year old is sighing and shouting "Can you close the door when you throw up?" and the 5 year old is with me rubbing my back telling me it's okay. She also offered to be my nurse if I have the baby in the car.
